Sharing some of that good Roatan lobster!

I can't say enough good things about our recent day in Roatan with Bodden Tours. Our group of 10 was met just outside the Mahogany Bay gates and escorted to our van. We had chosen "The Best of Roatan" and Derek was our guide for the day. As he drove us around the island in a comfortable, air conditioned van, he told us interesting things about the various towns and other sites. Derek was very knowledgable and answered all of our questions. We visited the Iguana farm, where Derek accompanied us and shared information about the iguanas and other animals. At Victor's Monkey Business we felt unhurried as we enjoyed the monkeys' antics and posed with parrots on our shoulders. The monkeys were clean and friendly and loved climbing all over us. Back in the van again, Derek continued to point out places of interest around the island and stopped whenever we wanted photographs. Our last stop was the Bananarama Resort at West Bay Beach where we enjoyed the warm water and beautiful scenery. Derek had mentioned to us that he enjoyed eating iguana meat, and I expressed interest in trying it. After he dropped us off at the beach, he left us for awhile, and returned with delicious iguana, fried bananas, rice and beans, and king crab legs, all prepared at a local restaurant. Derek really went the "extra mile" to ensure that we had an enjoyable day. He got us back to our ship in plenty of time to embark. By the end of the day we all felt like we had found a new friend in Derek! We decided that we'd love to return to Roatan and stay longer, and would definitely take advantage of what Bodden Tours has to offer on that beautiful island. We just got back from Roatan from a Princess Cruise and booked a tour by Victor Bodden. WOW!!! Joanna (Jo) was our tour guide and she was such a sweetheart, so friendly, smiley, smart, and knowledgeable about the island. She gave us the best, fun tour, it was like touring with family! She spoke excellent English, owned a nice mini van, and was a great driver. I would have loved to take her home with us. It was so interesting to hear her talk about the people of the island and about her family. It was interesting to learn that she parents and has a lot of the same worries about her children that we do in the States. We went to the orphanage which seemed to be maintained very well, clean, and seem to have the children's best interest in mind. The young couple who were running it were from the states, it sounded like they were missionaries, were really generous to take the time to show us the main part of the orphanage and explain it to us. The children seemed very well cared for and were very happy. They all greeted us with big smiles and hugs and were like one big family. It breaks your heart thinking they have no mom's/dad's/or biological families in their lives. It brought tears to my eyes leaving the orphanage and those kids. We also went to a private school, the nature center, to a beach to snorkel, a tour through town, and then back to the ship. We had a great time in the beautiful Roatan, Honduras thanks to Alex Derrick Bodden from Bodden tours. He was with us ( all 11 of us ) for the whole day and was a very informative tour guide. I recomend him to anyone and would love to visit Roatan once again very soon. Thanks for the wonderful experience that was the tour of Roatan. (December 2009)

Our group of eight greatly enjoyed our tour with Bodden Tours. It proved to best the best stop on our cruise. Our guide Alex was an excellent host, driver and pleasant person to spend the day with! The tour of the island, monkeys and zip line was a great experience. We felt completely safe and there were no hidden fees and much cheaper then cruise line price. We did the best of Roatan private tour with Marty from west end as our guide. Your are truly lucky to have such loyal and dedicated guides as Marty. His knowledge of the island and his insight into meeting our needs and what we wanted to do were just great. We had great photo ops and did the Zip line where Kelvin was great taking us through the zip line. We had time for west end beach, and for shopping in town. Marty had us back to Mahogany Bay with time to spare but wanting for nothing on our tour. This was the second day cruise ships had come into Mahogany Bay and Victor and his people were doing everything they could do to overcome the obstacles that Carnival had placed before them. This was a great tour for a great price and I would recommend it to everyone. We had booked the tour with 2 people but showed up with 4 and it was "no problem" the more the merrier. Hello Victor....we just arrived back in Canada from our cruise (Carnival Legend). I have to say that indeed the highlight of our trip was the Roatan tour and zipline experience. Even though I was suffering from a head cold, the tour was certainly worthwhile. Janet was our guide and she was tremendous. She patiently waited for us at each stop, answered all our questions, and expertly pointed out all the points of interest. If we come back, I'll be hoping to get her again. Thanks.... Cheers! We are back from our Cruise and I must say that the highlight of the trip was our time with Brett on our tour of your lovely Island and to your property to visit with the monkeys! Brett was very accommodating and was a great guide. We loved our lunch of your local food (flounder and plantains) and felt like we had been treated royally. I surely will write to Carnival about having to walk up the hill to meet up with your people. Ridiculous. Not your fault and Brett was able to drive us back to the pier on return. Roatan was made perfect thanks to your tour. Our guide Alex Derek Bodden was absolutely amazing. We had a group of 10 and this was the tour that all of us remembered the most. Derek was very knowledgeable about all of Roatan. He answered questions and went out of his way to make sure we were getting what we wanted out of the tour. He basically showed us everything we wanted to see and more. Booking a tour not from the cruise ship can always be a risk, but with your company we all felt very comfortable. I hope more people take advantage of the tours you offer because it can’t be beat. Opening up your home and meeting your family makes the tour so much more personal. All of your family members I met were personable and knowledgeable. I enjoyed talking with them and learning all about the company and the family, it was very intriguing. We recently returned from our second visit to Roatan using Victor Bodden Tours and wanted to thank all of you (and especially our guide, Ben) for the wonderful time we had during the visit. We booked with Victor again, because of the excellent service on our first tour and could not have been happier with both experiences. Our tour guide this time, Ben, was very knowledgeable, had a warm personality, had great communication skills, and seemed to know everyone on the island. We placed ourselves in his capable hands and he took us all over the island sightseeing; stopping at Half Moon Bay Resort for an excellent lunch, finding all the best spots for shopping, and visiting some of the beautiful beaches. If you are looking for a reliable, honest tour service at very reasonable prices; look no further that Victor Bodden Tours. Thanks for a fantastic time. Willy out at the Monkey site was a delight. He reminded me of my own grandson, ready and able to make our time well spent. Roger and I enjoyed the pace of being on a private tour and not in a hurry. It was a joy to go with Ronald, he was so informative and cheerful. The glass bottom boat was fun too. The weather made a bumpy ride and less to see but for us it was a never before new adventure. Each of the new friends we met along the way were tremendous. We absolutely loved Roatan and our tour with Tex. It was our favorite stop and one of the most beautiful islands I have ever seen. Tex was great as well and allowed us to come and go as we pleased. He showed us many different parts of your lovely island and was very informative regarding the history and daily life of those that live there. He took us to the Half Moon Bay Resort for lunch. We sat out on the balcony of the restaurant. What a treat to have lobster with waves crashing at our feet and such a beautiful view of the ocean and bay. Barbara & Vivian O'Horo - England:
We enjoyed Honduras and wish we had had more time to spend on the island. Your tour representative, Lanny, was very helpful and informative and took us wherever we wanted to go. We particularly liked the fact that when we visited a place for lunch, that we were offered an alternative (to the menu). We think the menu was geared for American diets, however we wanted to try the local food. The owner of the restaurant accommodated our wishes and we enjoyed a very nice Honduran meal. When visiting other countries, we like to try what the locals eat. We were not disappointed on this occasion. Obviously, our time on your island was limited, however should we have the opportunity in the future, we would like to return to Honduras. We enjoyed the monkeys and parrots also. Visiting your island also made us appreciate what we have in the UK and take for granted! It was a humbling experience. Thank you for organising this trip for us. (Crown Princess, November 17, 2009)

The Mushroom Girls at the Mayan Jungle Canopy Zipline

Hi Victor and Friends! I cant even begin to thank you for the AMAZING memories you have left us with! My 3 friends and I had the time of our lives on your Zip-N-Dip excursion. From beginning to end the level of service and care your staff gave us is something none of us have ever experienced! Ben, our tour guide/driver treated us like family. He was so informative during our 20 min drive though your country, and once we got to the "zip" part of our excursion, Alex took over and showed us the way...I have to tell you that I am (was) terrified of heights, Alex was so patient and supportive that by the 3rd zip line, I was upside down. Oh and the Monkeys! We were in love! And just when we thought that the day couldn't get better, Ben took us to this "local" restaurant and we had the most amazing lunch! Bertie's Criolle Cousine! You've all got to check it out!!! With full bellies we headed off to the Beach, I mean PARADISE!! We were inside a screen saver! Sadly, it had to come to an end...We said our goodbye to Ben and got back on the ship with time to spare. $65 is not nearly enough for the lifetime of memories. Monkey-ing Around in the Roatan Rain!

We had the BEST time in Roatan! Our tour guide was awesome, very knowledgeable and took us everywhere we wanted to go. The zip-lining was amazing and so much fun and our guide was very friendly as well. The monkeys were so cute and our guide took so many great pictures of us with the monkeys, parrots, and deer. My husband and I spent a very rainy day on the island but our driver/guide Anthony brightened the day. He was very friendly and we learned a lot about life on the island. Interacting with the monkeys and parrots was fun and we could see the people enjoying the Zip Line. Unfortunately the heavy rain did not permit us to see the Butterfly Garden or the Iguanas. Our visit to the Majken Brophy Children's Home was an eye opener. How delightful it was to see the children enjoying the puzzles we brought and I'm sure they enjoyed the Fruit Loop cereal and the cake that would me made from the cake mix we brought. How I wish children in more affluent countries would be as easy to please! When we returned to the ship, our fellow passengers wish they had spent such an enjoyable day. When we were planning an "empty nest" holiday after our daughter went off to University, we chose a cruise that would take us to new and exciting destinations. None of the locations were anyplace that we had been before (had been to Mexico, but not the Yucatan,) and so we wanted to make sure that we were going to get a good (and comfortable) exposure to the new countries. In Honduras, on Isla Roatan, after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor.com, that was Bodden Tours. We are geocachers, so having a private driver seemed the best way to make that happen, and we were able to find two caches on the trip, a great success. In addition, our driver, Antony, made sure that we saw some of the best that the island had to offer, after a bit of conversation to determine what was really important to us. Although Honduras is a country in a bit of turmoil, and certainly a place with economic challenges, we never felt concerned or threatened while Antony was with us. This was a big comfort, even if you don't think about it. Prior to even making a reservation, we emailed Victor Bodden (there is a real guy, I shook his hand!) and received a prompt, clear and informative response. After a couple back-and-forth emails, we decided that this was the way to go, and sent along our confirmation. We re-confirmed a week or so before our arrival, and Victor emailed a tip sheet the weekend before, which was very helpful. We found the Bodden Tours kiosk (staffed by Victor) outside of the pier area directly, and were quickly on our way. We visited the monkey farm, butterfly garden, did our two geocaches, had lunch, went snorkelling on a glass bottom boat, and took a brief tour of the West Bay area, before spending a bit of time on one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen, far surpassing any Hawaiian beach we saw earlier in the year. We had a personalized, directed, and safe tour of the island. The best way to see a foreign land, as I think. Thank you again for a marvelous visit to your island. Antony was a perfect driver and host for us, and we were very, very happy with our private tour.(Carnival Valor, October 28, 2009)

We chose a Victor Bodden tour while on Roatan due to the reviews on Tripadvisor and couldn't have been more satisfied. Victor kept me informed on our reservation thru constant e-mail's and promptly answered all my questions. We found Victor's kiosk as soon as we got off the ship. My family of four actually had our own van and driver, Hanno. Hanno was great and gave us a tour of the island including shipwrecks, local neighborhoods and west end. We even stopped for a taste of the local soda. After the sightseeing part we went to do the Mayan Canopy Zipline and visit with the animals. The zipline was awesome and we had a great time. We had two guides with us since my dad, who's 77 years old was doing his first zipline. The guides took great care of us, especially my dad and he loved every minute of it. After we were done we visited with the monkeys, birds, deers and other animals. It was great to interact with all of them. They were all so cute. After that we went to, I believe Half Moon Resort and had lunch at their restaurant. It was a great spot on the water with great conch fritters for lunch. The coconut shrimp was just as good.The resort itself is beautiful and looks great for snorkleing and relaxing. On our way back to the ship, Hanno took us to one of the highest points so we could a look at the great coral reef below. We truly loved Roatan, it was our favorite stop during our cruise. Victor Bodden tours made our visit even better. The next time were in Roatan we'll be doing another tour with Victor....THANKS SO MUCH!! (Carnival Legend, October 23, 2009)

Thank You for the wonderful excursion...Alex was an excellent tour guide...super friendly and very informative about Roatan... The island tour was very nice, the ziplining was amazing, and the way Alex let us make extra stops was Perfect! Words cannot express how beautiful your island is. Tex was a wonderful tour guide and through his suggestions we had the BEST time ever while on Roatan. We have been all over the caribbean and hands down Roatan is now our favorite. The snorkeling was absolutely wonderful by Infinity Bay Resort. The beach was beautiful, the weather was perfect, the water was clearer than any I've ever seen. Please pass along our gratitude to Tex, we had a wonderful trip and are already planning our next trip to Roatan. Can you PLEASE get the recipe for the Monkey Lala drink at Infinity Bay Bar and what brand name liquors they use? I have tried to make them since then and they just don't taste right lol. Victor, our family just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our personal tour with Ann. My husband and I had been to Roatan about 3 years previously and we were amazed this time when we returned to Roatan with our twin boys, 13 and our oldest son, 18. It was amazing how different things were at the dock with all the growth and expansion of shops. Our tour guide Ann, was excellent. Everything we asked of her, she took us there, informed us of the island history, politics, beauty, etc. We zip-lined at at the Mayan Jungle Canopy Zipline, and saw the monkeys. My boys were just blown away with the zip-line and had a blast with the monkeys. They are still talking about it. Ann recommended the conch at Half Moon Bay Restaurant for lunch, which we believe was some of the best food we have eaten on the island. The scenery there just made our lunch more enjoyable. She took us to see shipwrecks, a tour of the island and she took us to the best buys for souviners on the island (hand made carved chests out of Mahogany), which we purchased and truly were just amazed at the craftsmanship. We could not have had a better excursion. Just wished we had more time on the island. Meeting you at the dock was a pleasure. It is probably the BEST excursion out of all the islands we tendered and toured. We are looking forward to coming back to Roatan and staying longer next time. Victor Bodden's tours truly are the best deal on the island and we would highly recommend it to anyone going to Roatan. We just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Legand 10/11-10/18. On the day in Roatan we got off the ship and found your kiosk for tours. Ron Rivers was our guide and we LOVED him. My boys (10 and 7) wanted to adopt him as their big brother. He was so knowledgeable about the island and literally answered every quesiton we had. Ron was so personable and helpful. My wife and I both agree that Roatan, thanks to our guide Sam from Bodden Tours, was the highlight of our entire cruise vacation. We were the first ones off the boat and Sam had us sight-seeing Roatan within five minutes. He knew all the best sight-seeing and panoramic views to take photos from. He had us shopping at local handicraft markets before a single shopper arrived. He was a wealth of knowledge of the overall island, as well as the animal life and flora & fauna that we saw at the iguana farm and the monkeys and parrots at Victor's home. Our snorkeling adventure was simply amazing! We've never have seen such beautiful coral formations and sheer variety of colorful fish. While snorkeling my wife received a mild sting by a jellyfish and Sam quickly found a shop that sold vinegar: a remedy that worked perfectly. This experience was more than a simple excursion, it was engaging and an immersion into Roatan life. Sam's knowledge, humor, and sensitivity made him the best possible guide! We took an amazing tour of Roatan last week! Our guide, Lionel, was very knowledgeable, friendly and accomodating. The island was gorgeous to look at and Lionel made sure we had adequate time at every stop. We decided to book the private tour since there were nine of us, this allowed us to be very flexible with what we wanted to do. We had a spectaular glass bottom boat ride accompanied by Lionel Our captain, Richard, also went above and beyond! He guided us to some amazing snorkeling sights and even took underwater pictures for us novices. Lionel stayed on the boat and kept the non-snorkelers entertained. We had a delicious meal at Anthony's Chicken and enjoyed exploring the area around the boat. Roatan was an experience I'll never forget. We enjoyed your island because it wasn't just a tourist trap. You can go see big high rise hotels anywhere and that's what we were trying to avoid. The ziplining was outstanding. Eight of the nine of us participated with Enrique and I don't remember the other guy's name. It was worth every penny though and the two guides were fantastic. I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we enjoyed our excursion with your company while visiting Isle of Roatan on Aug 26, 2009. We took the Zip-N-Dip excursion and were met at our ship and then waited for the rest of our party before leaving on our group tour. Our driver William got us to our first destination quickly and on a scenic drive through Isle of Roatan where we met our zip-line guides, Alex and Calvin. Our zip guides made us feel very safe (we had never tried a zip-line before and were a bit apprehensive!) and ensured our safe arrival at each platform and even took some pictures for us. Our 15 year old son was so impressed with the guides' skill on the zip line, that he tried a few tricks himself. After our zip tour, we enjoyed our visit with the monkeys and the birds and then William took us to West Bay beach where he was so kind to watch over our bag while we did some snorkeling. Many of our group wanted to shop so we only spent an hour on the beach and then returned towards the port area for shopping before re-boarding the cruise ship. My husband, son, and I thank you and your staff for a great excursion and would definitely recommend your tours. We look forward to the opportunity to return and will definitely book with you again. We just returned from 7 day cruise in West Carribean. and had to write about our Zip-N-Dip shore excursion with Victor Bodden. We scheduled the tour before we left home- this is not a cruise line tour!!!! Our family had a perfect day visiting the island and we're thinking of buying a condo there!!!! We started our day with William (one of Victor's brothers) with a tour around the island on our way to zip lining- there were 9 people in our party. Zip lining was excellent and they provided 12 stations (others that took ship ran excursions said they only had 5 stations and there were lots of people.) They also have a place so you to interact with the adorable monkeys, tucans, and parrots!!!! Then William gave us an option on where we wanted to go snorkeling- what a rare treat - he told us he had phoned ahead and one of the places was full of people with no chairs left to sit, and he had called another place and reserved 2 tables for us!! We decided to go to West Bay Beach- some of the best snorkeling I have ever done!!!! You have to go out far past the reef to see the most. We had a table in the shade where we ate and drank a few local beers of the island. The entire time William stayed with us, kept our things locked in his (air conditioned) van, and even held our passports the entire time we were at the beach while we snorkeled!!! A most wonderful trip for only $65. (Although we did heavily tip the zip line guides and William). Was the most enjoyable day at any port we visited thanks to Victor and his family. What a great time we had doing the zip lining & hanging out with the monkeys. This was one of the high points on our cruise. Also, thank you for talking with my 8 year old grandson Clay about doing the zipping. I tried for 2 days to tell him it won't be scary & that he'd have a blast doing it. But he told me grandpa I don't want to do it. You talked to him for 1 minute & you convinced him he'd enjoy it & that there was nothing to be afraid of. Well, Clay got up there & by the second zip he was doing flips & all kinds of stuff. Thanks Victor. That meant so much to Donna & I. This was the first time for all of us to do zip lining & I can tell you it won't be the last. We felt very safe, & could tell all your equipment is very well maintained. They were so helpful with everyone & made us all feel that we were in good hands. I also wanted to give a big thanks to our tour guide Derek. Quite simply he was an awesome guide. He was polite, patient, informative, and interesting! He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and we learned lots from him. We also REALLY ENJOYED our guide who took my husband, son, and I on the Jungle Canopy zipline. He was young, but very confident, again patient - especially with me since I was NERVOUS about doing the zipline. He helped me relax and enjoy, encouraged my son to try some "moves", and made us all laugh and have a GREAT TIME!!! I also had a FUN time shopping in your wife's shop! Bought t-shirts, bracelets, hat, purse... fun! (I'm wearing one of the t-shirts to breakfast with a teacher friend tomorrow!) We were also very pleased to be able to meet you and put a face to a name. I'm sure you meet too, too many people to remember me, but I am a long-time teacher. Our guide did take us to a school and I REALLY LOVED visiting with the teacher and students. Felt like I should just get to work there! We were there Friday and had a fantastic day. It was our favorite port of the cruise, and the only thing wrong with it is that the stop is too short. Our tour with Laura, our guide, was the best! We got loaded into the comfortable van right away, and she was very accommodating to all of our desires! She took us into small village towns, and we stopped at a market, a little store, schools and an orphanage on our way back to the cruise ship. We visited Roatan on the 17th of jun 09 on the Carnival Valor. We had checked Tripadvisor to find an excursion as we always do. Victor Bodden's name was everywhere...and now we know why. What a great day in Roatan. Victor met us at the dock and introduced us to Roland, our tour guide. This cruise was a graduation celebration for our kids, one from high school and one from college, so there were 7 of us...our daughter who just got out of college with her boyfriend and our 18 year old son who just got out of HS with his 2 friends. The island was beautiful and the van was cool and comfortable. Roland was great! We felt no pressure to hurry at any time and he let us decide what we wanted to do and how long we wanted to stay. The monkeys were a blast and the kids loved them. Had a nice lunch and some good beach time. We would highly recommend Bodden Tours to all. Make sure you take advantage of this tour! We visited Isla Roatan with Bodden Tours on June 10, 2009. From the time we got off the ship until we returned, Victor Bodden and his wonderful staff made sure we had a great time. We had a private car and very knowledgeable driver. The iguana farm is a must-see, the Carambola Gardens are beautiful and the views are breathtaking. Be sure to see the monkeys at Victor's house, they are adorable and friendly. We very much enjoyed our visit to Roatan. George was very nice, very informative and a pleasure to spend time with. We definitely want to come back when we can spend more time. A tip for other visitors, the gift shop at your place was reasonably priced but unfortunately we had already picked up a few things at another location that seemed very over priced and the service not so great. We loved the little monkeys and the big ones too with the baby. We have never touched a monkey before and just fell in love with them. We were amazed at how lush the island is and George was great in pointing out the various trees and plants of interest. I even got to try Cashew Nut Fruit. Victor, we had a wonderful time in Roatan. Our guide was Ali and he was great! I wish we would have had more time. We visited your home and played with your monkeys, we just loved that. We also did the zip lining at your place and it was great. My wife was concerned that the lines would be too high or too fast, but it was just the right speed for a beginner. While at your home we met your wife and purchased some souvenirs to bring back home. Afterwards we went over to the Mayan Princess and spent some time at the beach. Words can not describe how beautiful the beach was. Just perfect and the hotel is great also, beautiful pool! Our time went by so fast, we wish we would have had more time in Roatan. We also went to the Cameo factory and to West Bay Beach to enjoy the beach and pool for a a while. Our only complaint was that our day was cut too short because we had to get back to the ship! We had a wonderful time while visiting the island. Our tour guide, Marty was absolutely wonderful. He was very knowledgable. He was able and willing to answer all of our questions and wanted to make sure that we had the best time possible. Which we did thanks to him. Marty gave suggestions of places to visit and timing to allow us the most opportunity to see and enjoy the island of Roatan. He even went as far as paying for us to try the tropical drinks that you recommended (the place we went to did not take U.S. money). Marty, without hesitation paid for our beverages and even gave our children the change so we could have the currency there for them to take home. This tour was a first for our family in many ways. Although we have cruised often, we have never really done much off the ship. We are so happy that we made the decision to use your tour for our first big adventure. The Mayan Jungle Canopy was an opportunity for our family to make everlasting memories that we continue to enjoy talking about. The girls had the opportunity to interact with the monkeys (Marty was at our side helping us every step of the way). He made the girls feel comfortable about interacting with the wildlife. He then took us to a remote location to snorkel, again another first for us. It was wonderful. The fish were beautiful. Marty offered suggestions for the best places to view the sea life and where to take a break. We cannot say enough about the wonderful time and the care/concern that Marty showed our family. Truly it is something that we will remember for the rest of our lives. The girls are already talking about what to do on our next adventure to Roatan. We are already planning our next trip, and it will be to fly to Roatan and stay for a week or so. Hanno said he would pick us up from the airport! We had the pleasure of taking a Victor Bodden Tour 2 weeks ago and it was the most enjoyable excursion I can remember on any of the islands I have visited (About 12 in all). Our tour guide was Jo and she was Fabulous! She gave us an informative tour around the island and stopped along the way for shopping & pictures. We had the option doing whatever we wanted and stopping whenever we wanted to. She then took us to Victor's house to see the Monkeys and other animals. What an experience that was! They are so friendly and I still have not been able to locate my sunglasses! LOL! They did take my hat off! Jo then gave us all of the possible beach options and we were brought to a wonderful beach where we could enjoy the sand and snorkel. Jo actually watched our 5 year old son for us and he is still talking about her! I am upset that I forgot to get a picture of her but she gave us lifetime memories and I hope to return to Roatan someday and do it all over again!. Thanks Victor, Ceasar and Jo for a great day!

We had a really good time and unfortunately not enough hours to do it all. We at least know we have something to look forward to on a future visit to Roatan. Your guide, Hanno, was excellent and patient. He was very informative about the island and the culture. It was fun, especially being able to speak both English and Spanish. Almost as we do here in New York, our Spanglish, mixing both languages in a sentence together. The girls had a lot of fun with the Zip lining and I wish I would of done it too, but I was too scared. My next trip to Roatan, I will definitely be zip lining. The monkeys were great! My family was shocked I even came near a monkey, let alone have one on me. We were able to go to the beach, hang out at a nearby restaurant on the beach to have some food and beers, photo opportunities and do some shopping. I will gather some info from the girls in my group about it and add to the great reviews you had online. We really wish we could have had more time to explore the island and the people. We were in Roatan on April 22, coming in on the Carnival Valor. After listening to the wonderful reviews on CC about Bodden Tours, we booked our Best of Roatan tour. Our guide was Juan Carlos and he was fabulous! He met us right outside the gates and gave us a wonderful tour of the island. Our daughter had been to the island getting her divemaster certification a few years ago and it was great getting to see all of the places she talked about. Then we went snorkeling at Half Moon Bay. Juan Carlos and our snorkeling guide, Richard took us out in the glass bottom boat. We went to the Blue Channel. It was amazing! The equipment was really good, the guide gave us good instructions and showed us all sorts of fish and coral and live conch! We had a lovely lunch and sampled the local beer at the restaurant overlooking the bay. It was drizzling for most of the morning, but towards the end of lunch the sun came out and it was just like a postcard. Then we went to Victor's house to see the animals. It was a blast! The animals are very well cared for. The monkeys are so funny and loved my DH! He had at least 3 with him the whole time. Juan Carlos was always closeby to answer any questions we had and we felt completey comfortable with him. He was proud of the island and it showed. I highly recommend booking a tour with them. We visited your beautiful island on April 15, 2009 as one of our cruise stops on the Carnival Valor. We had an amazing day!! We met you right at the port where you set us up with Pilo to tour us around the island. We stopped at the Iguana farm and got to feed the iguana's - this was so much fun. We also stopped at many scenic lookouts to take pictures and also went shopping. Pilo is native to the island and had a wealth of information to share with us. He also helped us with the language barrier and translated for us when we were shopping. We also got to taste the yummy cashew fruit that he picked from the tree. The second part of the tour took us to your house to do the ziplines! Wow, what an adrenaline rush! My hubby, who had a broken arm, was even able to do this without any problems. Your guides were very knowledgeable and helpful as we zipped from platform to platform. Safety always came first. This was our first ziplining and we absolutely loved it. After the ziplines we got to meet the playful monkeys - they were so much fun and we all fell in love with them, think we could have played with them all day! We had a wonderful cruise vacation, and I wanted to tell you that our time on your island with our guide Robi, was amazing. He showed us the island, and was so patient with us tooling around even in the heat. After the zipline, my son got a little sick from the heat. Robi was so accommodating to get the car and put on the air conditioning so Bryce could get cool and feel better faster. We then went to the beach, which also helped cool my son off, and we went to a little restaurant. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced! My daughter loved the monkeys. That is all she has talked about. I will send some photos soon, with the monkeys. Robi was wonderful about translating things to us, and to others about what we were asking or needed. What a a great asset he is to your company. I hope we can come back soon, and we would love to stay on the island. Of course, we would want to hang out with Robi again. This was the second time my sister and I have used Victor's services for our visit to Roatan. It was my 3rd visit to Roatan, my sisters 2nd. She found out about the service 2 years ago and we were given Hanno to be our guide. We could not have been happier with him, so we requested him for this trip. Again we could not have been happier. He was great and I/we highly recommend him. I hear all the guides are great, but from personal experience I know Hanno to be a great representative of Victor's service. The monkeys were great fun, the birds too. All the animals were obviously well cared for. We did everything we wanted to and Hanno made it easy and fun, and though I have always felt safe in Roatan, we never had a concern for our safety with Hanno. The "Best of Roatan" and ziplining trip was a fantastic day for our party. Joanne was an excellent guide throughout the day. Joanne was very informative in relation to the island, she was also very friendly and very easy to talk to throughout the day. We asked Joanne to take us to the local orphanage to enable our six year old daughter to give her the opportunity to see how the children lived, in comparison to the somewhat excess of the western lifestyle in the UK. I think this was great learning experience for her. She gave a small present of coloring pencils and books for the children before we left. We were not 100% sure about the ziplining for our daughter, but once she saw the guide do the first wire she was so excited and wanted to copy him hanging upside down. This again was great experience for us all. Our lunch location organized by Joanne overlooking the beach was a lovely location and made us want to return to Roatan at some time in the future for a longer visit. Our group had an AMAZING day. We toured with Ben and went to the Iguana Farm, Zipline Adventure, and visited an orphanage. Ben was wonderful. He has a great personality and gave us a great tour of Roatan. Ben took the time to take us to different spots on the island that he thought we would like - places we never would have gotten to see if we had gone with a Carnival excursion. At one point in the day we mentioned we were hungry, so Ben took us to a local restuarant (Bertie's) where we had a great meal. I loved that we got to see Roatan from his perspective. We had Pedro for our zipline guide and he was great too! Very friendly and he made the zipline adventure even more fun. The Marks, The Ubermans & The McKeehans - FL:
We booked with Victor Bodden and as soon as we got off the ship was introduced to Roland, who would be our tour guide for the day. I would in a heartbeat book with Victor Bodden again AND definitely request Roland. Not only was he nice, smart, easy to understand etc, he was able to put up with my family of nine (9), from the 5 year old twins up to the 80 year old grandparents. Every single one of us had a great day on Roatan. He had his own air-conditioned van which was perfect for us. We saw/played with iguanas and monkeys. We went to the cameo factory. He took us sightseeing. We did what we wanted and he just went along for the ride!!! Roatan was truly one of our best sightseeing tours we have ever had/done and Roland was the best tour guide we have ever had and we have all been on minimum of 8 cruises up to 23!!! Our group of 16 toured with Victor Bodden's tour on April 1st, 2009. It was truely a day to remember. Evonnya our guide was FANTASTIC. We had our own bus and they took us wherever we wanted to go! The Iguana Farm was a hit with the kids (us too) and be sure to walk down and see the dock area. The little store there had the best woodworking we have seen. We had requested visiting a school and had brought supplies to give to the kids. It is never enough. I would strongly recommend that if you are going to do this, BRING LOTS, as it disappears into their hands quickly. You will see the biggest smiles of your life! I also handed out U.S. coins which was a hit. Also bring something just for the teacher. The school we went to had about 50 kids/room and 3 rooms, 3 teachers. You give the supplies directly to the kids. It is a bitter sweet experience to do this. Great for our children to experience. We then went on for a quick shop to buy coffee and vanilla - you can bargain a bit but the initial price is fairly reasonable. Coffee seems to be something you can't really bargain for, which is fine. Next stop was Victor's house! There he has spider monkeys to play with and the zip line. I did not personally do the zip line but my niece did and she said it was fabulous. The tiny little shop there had some nice Honduran products as well. From there we went for a quick beach break and then back to town. I wish we would have had more time at the beach as it was beautiful. Evonnya really made the trip. She was very knowledgeable, kind and patient. We gave her some treats for her kids and tipped her well. We did get to meet Victor for a moment. He seems to be very involved with his staff and customers. The van we were in was air conditioned and the driver was great. I hope to go back to Isla Roatan. This island far exceeded our expectations. I would definately return. My advice would to not book through your cruise ship. We booked directly with Victor and it was well worth it. My family and I were very pleased with our day in Roatan. We all really enjoyed our cruise and have all decided that Roatan is our favorite port. And yes---we wished we would have had more time but we also felt that our guide,Ann showed us everything we wanted to see. Our two grandchildren loved the zipline and we were grateful that it was not "extreme" since this was their first time. We all enjoyed the iguana farm (that surprised us!!) and of course the monkeys at Victor Bodden's!! I would say being in the cage with the monkeys--and a guide-- and having them explore our pockets and just be curious, was the highlight of our trip. I personally admired the mahogany pieces the artisans created. I purchased a small box but it was all very beautiful and difficult to just choose one. Ann was a very good guide and we liked her very much. I found out about Victor Bodden Tours through cruise critic and I'm so glad I did. It was priced right and worth every penny. Very enjoyable! Victor, We had a great time on our tours. The parents were taken care of very well by their guide, They were taken everywhere they wanted to go. The tour guide that myself, wife, & kids had was equally as good. She gave a nice tour of the island, took us shopping (the place that said gave cruise guests 30% off was much higher than the vendors at lookout point), and zip lining. The two guides that took us zip lining were the best. One of the guides was probability a little sore from me plowing him over a couple of times when I was to stop (I am a much bigger person than either one of the two). My wife and youngest daughter were not sure about zip lining, but by the 4th stand, they were going without hands and even going upside down (half way) on a few runs. We would do it again without question. The monkeys were a blast to play with. One was trying to climb inside my shorts and others were eating our hair (or what hair I have left). We would go on your tour again without question the next time we visit Roatan. Thank you to your staff of people for waking this the best stop on our cruise. Hi Victor- Many thanks to you, your family, and Robbie for the wonderful day in Roatan! We just returned from the Norwegian Pearl's Western Caribbean Cruise and our day in Roatan was definitely the best, thanks to Bodden Tours. Robbie met us at the pier in his ultra clean Toyota Sienna, and drove us all over the island, with stops along the way to see the pretty vistas. He then took us to Victor's house to see the monkeys, and my husband and 13 year old newphew had the best time. I couldn't get them out of the cage! I haven't heard so much laughing in the longest time. And Victor's gift shop has beautiful mahogany jewelry and other nice goods at fair prices. Robbie then took us to West Bay Beach, to a private beach where he knew we would be welcome. He hung out in the shade while we snorkeled - the reef is right off of the beach, and the fish were magnificent. He recommended a restaurant for our lunch and it was delicious and fairly priced. He then recommended some of his favorite sodas and took us to a market to buy them. Along the way, Robbie answered our questions about life in Roatan - schooling, healthcare, industry, and population. He drove us past his own neighborhood, and told about his hobbies. He was very funny and charming, too. We had a wonderful day, felt we really got to know the island, and want to return very soon! We felt totally safe with Bodden Tours, and appreciated their informational emails before we arrived, and their "pay at the end" pricing in US Dollars. I wanted to write to let you know how much we enjoyed our day in Roatan, in large part due to the great attention we received from Robbie who was a perfect guide. We did the canopy tour on March 13th, off the ship Carnival Legend. Right now we are receiving what may turn out to be 5 to 8 inches of snow. Back to reality! I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed the zip line. Both my husband and my son were very much afraid of heights coming into this. I had to talk them both into it. After my son jumped off the first platform, he was so in awe of the experience, and he got bolder with each subsequent platform and did the crazy monkey over and over again. We went on this cruise for his 30th birthday, along with a friend of his, and this was the highlight of the week for him. Not only did he have a great time, but he overcame one of his fears, and now he's talking about doing it again at some other place. Everyone there was very friendly towards us. Our guide at the canopy did not speak english very well, but it was enough that we understood everything he needed us to know, and we thoroughly enjoyed him. Our guide, Ismael Matute was wonderful!!! He took us on a tour of the island, and then to a nice place for lunch. He then made arrangemens for us to snorkel in the West Bay area. I was somewhat leary to book a private tour from a company that I knew nothing about and that I had found by searching the internet. What a great experience it ended up being! We arrived in Honduras on Carnival Cruise Lines on March 4, 2009. I followed the directions that were send to me prior to our departure from home. We had a Bodden representative waiting for us and directed us to William, our tour guide for the day. We had a short walk to William's van and then off on our day long trip. The van was air conditioned and extremely clean. William was an excellent guide and answered all of our millions of guestions. He showed us the highlights of the island and was more than willing to stop along the way when we wanted to explore. William took us to an awsome beach where we had lunch and were able to enjoy the sun and sand. Our experience with Bodden Tours couldn't have been better. From the first time I contacted Victor Bodden about booking with his company until William dropped us off back at our cruise ship I was more than satisfied. Victor contacted me via email several times before we left and a few days prior to our departure sent detailed instructions for when we arrived in Honduras. For anyone looking to book a private tour while in Honduras I would highly recommend using Bodden Tours. The price for the private tour was very reasonable, we had seven in our group and had the van all to ourselves. We definitely got more than our money's worth and were able to customize our tour to what our group wanted to do and see. Our group of seven ranged in age from 5 - 55+ and there was something for everyone to enjoy at each and every stop. At Victor's home, we went into a huge cage and had 4 or 5 monkeys jumping all over us...The monkeys are only caged on tour days, otherwise, they roam freely, returning to their cages (on their own) for food and rest. There were many smaller cages with monkeys and beautiful birds. Victor assigns personal guides to explain about the animals and answer all of your questions...This was the best $2.00 we ever spent! Aside from Victor's home, we enjoyed our stop at the Iguana Farm; what a riot to see hundreds of these adorable creatures scurrying about, trying to eat the juicy leafs we were given to feed them. Our lunch and snorkel stop was outstanding; the food delicious and the underwater sites awesome...We never felt rushed, even though we did so many things in just one day, including a stop at a cameo factory. Our tour guide, Lionel, took us to every stop we had requested and explained all about the magnificent sites, as we traveled along in A/C comfort. The many stops were very interesting and the tour was very well planned and paced. I would not hesitate to book with Victor on our next trip to Roatan and we cannot wait to return...Thanks so much Lionel, Victor and the entire, gracious Bodden family! The Osburns & Friends from Tennessee...all Geared-Up!

Six of us just returned from Voyager of the Seas out of Galveston on February 1, 2009. We had the pleasure of using Bodden Tours for our day at Roatan. We have never booked an excursion through the ship in 10 cruises, and have always had better results than the ship's tours, or so we are told when comparing notes with others back on ship. Bodden Tours was everything the reviews posted on their web site said it would be.

We were met as we got off the ship by Lionel, our guide for the day. Lionel was very friendly and personable the entire day. Not knowing exactly what we wanted to do, we let Lionel show us around "his" island. We stopped at several local shopping places, sight seeing spots, and even stopped for grilled corn on the cob with lime juice alongside the road. It was a really fun day and Lionel was quick to join in the joking with us.

We went to the new Mayan Jungle Canopy Zip Line. While getting outfitted with the proper equipment, we realized that one of the guys helping us was Victor Bodden himself, and that he would be one of our guides on the zip line. We felt like we were getting special treatment to have the boss along. Victor is very good at what he does. Having zip lined before, we were impressed with the safety procedures that Victor employed. None of our group of 6, or Victor and his assistant, were ever not hooked on with at least one safety harness while even just standing on the platforms. Victor's zip line is a double line system with 2 sets of pulley wheels and 2 harnesses. We felt extremely safe the entire time. We felt like daredevils and were even instructed on how to zip upside down and twist around while on the lines. The monkeys at Victor's are quite cute and friendly, but beware of anything in your pockets or eyeglasses. The monkeys are quite attracted to both.

After zipping, Lionel took us to a restaurant right at the water's edge for lunch. People were snorkeling right near our table. It was a fabulous place. After lunch we did some more touring with Lionel before heading back to the ship. I would highly recommend Bodden Tours and our driver Lionel to anyone visiting Roatan. We just returned from our cruise on the Carnival Valor. This was our 4th cruise and our 1st one to book a tour or excursion that wasn't though the ship. To say that I was nervous would be an understatement. There were 6 in our party-me, my husband and our 2 sons ages 10 and 12, plus my sister and her husband. Some of us wanted to zip line-some didn't-I wasn't sure that we could all be together having different interests and things that we wanted to see and do. First of all-I really appreciate the communication and immediate response that I received when e-mailing with questions. Victor assured me that we could all be together and while some of us were zip lining with a guide there would be a guide with the rest of my family showing them other things. This is exactly what happened. Our guide was Anne and our whole party was extremely happy with our day. She was informative with our questions about the island. She was very patient at each of our stops making sure that we all got to do and see the things that we wanted to see. I would without question love to have her as our guide again. Pedro was our zip line guide. High praise goes to this kind man-my husband has a slight fear of heights and panicked a bid in the middle. Pedro was able to guide him through it as well as make the 3 other of us who had never zip lined before feel quite confident. What fun we had!! Our day in Roatan was one of the most fun we had on the cruise. I would highly recommend Victor Bodden Tours. I have worked in the travel industry for 22 years and have seen good, bad, and ugly. Her favorite part of the entire cruise was our excursion booked with Victor Bodden. We were met at the dock by Roland (Mr. Wonderful Tour Guide). He was patient and helpful as well as telling us much about the island. My mother fell in love with the monkey's and wants one for a pet now. But the best part was when my sister and I decided to try the zip line, my mother decided she would, too. The guides for the zip line told her she broke the record! She is 76 years old; she was so proud of herself. I sent pictures to show that everyone can enjoy the zipline! (Norwegian Pearl, January 20, 2009)
